Meet a Mom: Christina Moore | Hudson County Moms

How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?
My first daughter, Serra is named after a vineyard in Italy. She’s less than a year old!

How long have you lived in Hudson County? What made you decide to live here?
My partner and I moved to Jersey City over 6 years ago to seek out a higher quality of life, while still being in the hustle and bustle. I am a New Yorker. We have an appreciation for art and curated space, but found it challenging to curate in our New York City apartment. I’ve always loved entertaining and having access to outdoor space is ideal.

What’s your favorite family activity in Hudson County?
I love exploring new neighborhoods. I ride light rail to different neighborhoods to find hidden gems.

Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop in your town?
At home, we like to pair homemade meals with unique, local wines. I like to discover cool ingredients at Van Hook cheese shop, and Cool Vines in downtown JC. My favorite spot to have a night out for dinner is Corto on Palisade Avenue in The Heights.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
People find it surprising that my background includes a 10 year career in the pharmaceutical industry. I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. I created my own space in Jersey City by pursuing my passion with recycled clothing events, called “swaps”.

What are you doing to stay sane during Covid for yoursel
I love home organization, and using everyday materials to improve my space. I’ll often run a “proof of concept” to build solutions using stuff I already have in my home. I also like to rearrange furniture to refresh my surroundings, and get a new perspective on space.

Any tips or recommendations for parents to entertain/educate their children during this time?
I haven’t been a mom for very long, but I’ve always loved themes, dressing up and doing activities!

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
My mom is #1 in everything! My mom has run her own daycare business since I was in the 3rd grade. She influenced my work ethic while also pursuing passions. I also lean really heavy into moms who run local businesses, and keep it almost 100% on the highlight reel.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I run a second-hand shop out of The Hive Goods, which was established over 5 years ago by the duo behind Deep Space Gallery.
My community has been monumental to feeling welcome and inspired in Jersey City.
