Meet a Mom Monday: Susan Goldman | Hudson County Moms

How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?
I have a 6 year-old daughter.

How long have you lived in Hudson County? What made you decide to live here?
My husband and I both lived in the city (as singles) and when we met we knew we wanted to start a family. We looked to rent in Hoboken since it is such a kid friendly town and we have now been here 9 years.

What’s your favorite family activity in Hudson County?
We love to go veggie or fruit picking together in the spring/summer.

Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop in your Hoboken?
There are so many great restaurants in our town. A couple of my favorites are Augustinos, Anthony and David’s and Del Friscos Grille.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I was a competitive tennis player growing up and gave up a scholarship to play at Syracuse University (where I went to College)

What are you doing to stay sane during Covid for yourself?
Everyday is different. I do try to get outside at least once a day to get fresh air and to clear my mind.

Any tips or recommendations for parents to entertain/educate their children during this time?
We have done a lot of “theme days”. Whether it’s an animal theme, painter theme, etc. we would watch a video about that theme and do a craft or science project that related. Pinterest really helped me come up with some great ideas to get us through the days.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
First my husband, Michael who is a WONDERFUL dad and great partner. He is very hands on and helps out a lot! 2nd is My family! Both the ones that I was raised with and the extended one I married into. They have been incredibly supportive!

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
I was furloughed from my job in the fashion industry back in March and I was able to do crafts everyday with my daughter. One day we made crayons and gave them to her friends, and they loved them! A couple months later our company Cre8ive Crayonz was born. My daughter, Jessie, is the Cre8ive Director and helps out a lot with choosing colors, quality control and pops crayons out of the molds.
We make personalized, unique, fun non-toxic crayons for the budding artists around the country.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Hoboken is SUCH a kid- friendly town and has been very supportive of our new business. I used a local mom to help me design my logo and another local mom works on my website! The local store Little Hoboken sold my holiday crayon set. It’s a wonderful small knit and supportive community we live in!
